The Traminer family of grapes is one of the oldest varieties that is still grown, and probably originated in ancient Egypt or Greece. It has been, since then, cultivated in Northern Italy and South Tyrol. The name probably originates from the village of Tramin in South Tyrol.
The aromatic Traminer variety is one of the most distinctive and popular grape cultivars.
